Gek Li San

Li San has been actively involved in the Singapore’s TV and film scene since 1993. Her work ranges dynamically from TV documentaries, reality shows, infotainment and trailers for both local and international channels. She has also edited many short and feature films for Singapore filmmakers.

 

INNOCENT, (a short documentary) directed and edited by her won the Special Jury Prize and Special Achievement Prize at Singapore International Film Festival 2004. It was also screened at the Yamagata Documentary Festival, along side with many other internationally acclaimed documentaries.

 

Li San had been invited to mentor young filmmakers and as a Judge for different filmmaking competitions in Singapore over the years.

 

In 2011, Li San delved into a new arena of art-making. She was awarded by the Art Creation Fund from NAC and created a dance film installation with two other collaborators of different disciplines. Li San is commissioned to create a dance film for Singapore Arts Festival 2012.

Since 2005, Li San has been engaged to teach Video Productions, Video Editing and Documentary Filmmaking in various institutions (NGEE ANN POLY, SMU, LASALLE, NAFA, ITE) and Training Centres (Objectifs and AV8).

 

Li San is most enthusiastic about sharing the ART OF EDITING to the film and TV industry in Singapore.
